Ammon, Idaho

Ammon, ID

Ammon, Idaho traces its beginnings back to the late 1800s, when settlers branching off from nearby Iona cleared ground for crops and homes in the Upper Snake River Valley. Originally called South Iona, the community became its own ward in 1889 under Bishop Arthur M. Rawson, and a few years later, in 1893, the name was changed to a figure in the Book of Mormon.

Farming provided the backbone for decades, with grains, sugar beets, and cattle shaping both the land and the rhythm of life. The city was incorporated in 1905, and while agriculture still marks the landscape, and has grown into one of the fastest expanding parts of eastern Idaho. Its population now stands at about 19,600, and the community is recognized for balancing rapid residential growth with steady improvements in infrastructure, including a fiber-optic internet system that has been praised as one of the most forward-thinking municipal projects in the region.

Dining here reflects the mix of longtime locals and newer arrivals. Main Moon Restaurant has been a steady favorite for those craving Chinese dishes like Chicken Almond Ding and Sweet & Sour Pork, served in a straightforward setting that makes it a reliable stop. Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food has tapped into the region’s appetite for something different, with plates piled high with Chicken Katsu, Teriyaki Chicken, and Kalua Pork that bring a taste of the islands to eastern Idaho. Add in Patty’s Ultimate Coffee House, which turns out espresso drinks and breakfast pastries in a warm setting.

Businesses reflect its role as a growing hub for the metro area. Uptown Cheapskate is a popular destination for clothing shoppers, especially younger crowds and families looking for stylish resale and gently used pieces. The store blends affordability with fashion trends, making it a reliable stop for people who want to refresh their wardrobe without driving to Idaho Falls. Just as important for daily needs, Staples anchors one of the busiest retail corridors in town, providing everything from office supplies and school essentials to printing and tech services.

Recreation is a central part of life, with McCowin Park serving as the main gathering spot. Families flock here for ballgames, playground time, and community events. The park is also the center of Ammon Days, the signature summer festival held each August. The event features hot air balloons lifting off in the early mornings, car shows lined with polished classics, carnival rides, dunk tanks, and live music. Residents look forward to it as a weekend when the entire city seems to show up. In October, the Pumpkin Walk offers a different kind of draw—artistic pumpkin displays set up along paths, giving kids and adults something to enjoy as the air turns crisp.

In Ammon, our work focuses on inspections, exclusion, and long-term solutions to keep wildlife out of your property. If you’re noticing scratching sounds, droppings, or chew marks, contact us today. We’ll provide a clear assessment and a plan that protects your home and keeps it free of unwanted visitors.
